Can I install my Tap Master myself?
Yes! The Tap Master comes fully assembled and, essentially, all you have to do is attach 4 tubes to various connections under your sink. Detailed instructions including photos are included with your Tap Master. Also, look at our installation overview to see what an installed system looks like. If you prefer, however, any handyman/plumber should be able to install you Tap Master for you in about an hour.
How often do I need to replace my filters.
The sediment and charcoal filters should be replaced annually. The reverse osmosis membrane only needs to be replaced every 2-3 years.
How much does it cost to replace my filters?
The Tap Master Filter Change set costs $49.99 which includes the sediment filter and the 2 carbon filters. These filters should be changed annually. The reverse osmosis membrane costs $50.00 and needs to be replaced every 2-3 years.
Will my Tap Master flood my kitchen?
The Tap Master filters are built into filter housing for quick and easy annual filter changes. We do not use permanent canister filter housings that can weaken and burst with age.
Are 3900 gallon-per-year water filters overkill?
Water filter are not like light bulbs - they fail gradually, not suddenly. Filters nearing the end of their lifespan will allow contaminants to enter the system, causing premature membrane failure or fouling, in addition to poor tasting drinking water. Our "overkill" type sediment and carbon filters promote membrane longevity, and reduce the frequency of required filter changes, both of which save time and money. The filters in the Tap Master should be changed once per year to ensure general system hygiene. The reverse osmosis membrane only needs to be changed ever 2-3 years.
Simply put - they use low quality filters, and want you to buy twice as many of them. The Tap Master uses superior quality filters to conveniently deliver the highest quality drinking water, while cutting down your filter change costs and labor.
Other reverse osmosis systems compensate for using poor quality filters by using more of them. With the high quality filters used in the Tap Master, a 5th carbon stage is unnecessary. Two inline 5 micron, 10 inch high density granular activated coconut shell carbon filters will effectively filter 3900 gallons of water per year. We could add a 5th stage to the Tap Master, but the only difference you would experience, would be higher filter change costs.
